Guided City Tour 2 - Imperial Baths > Roman Bridge

Our Guided City Tour 2 (Stadtrundgang 2) takes you on the trail of bathing culture from antiquity to the 20th century. Along the Decumanus, the city tour searches for traces of water in the city. You will also pass a selection of sights in the city centre off the beaten track. Among them are the Imperial Baths, the Babara Baths and the Roman Bridge, three buildings that are part of the city's UNESCO World Heritage.

You go through the history of bathing in the city of Trier from the Romans to the present day in several stations. Starting at the Imperial Baths, which provide insights into Roman bathing culture, the tour moves from the Tufa towards Neustraße. The tour then follows the former main water conduit of the Romans and continues through the Alleengürtel, also known as the green lungs of the city, to the synagogue. The next stop, the Babara Baths, is to admire the hypocausts and gain an insight into how the great baths were heated in ancient times. The last section of the tour takes you to the Moselle and the Roman Bridge. Because when you're dealing with Trier's water world, Germany's oldest bridge can't be missed, of course, before the tour ends at the cranes and with the topic "Bathing in the Moselle". Please note that this tour does not include a visit to the inside of the Kaiserthermen.
